Critical Care Training Course

Shasta Regional Medical Center presents its Critical Care Nursing Course at various times throughout the year and is a six week critical care entry level course designed for the Registered Nurse.  Upon successful completion, the participant will go on to a full orientation (approximately six to eight weeks) in the assigned critical care unit.

The course is multisystem approach that includes didactic lectures, labs, and special presentations.  The course is modeled after the American Association of Critical Care Nurse core curriculum.  A talented group of professionals from the various disciplines are used to teach the course.  The course is three eight-hour classroom days a week with one twelve hour shift spent with a preceptor in one of the various critical care units.

Upon successful completion of the course and the orientation, the participant is prepared as a Critical Care Nurse Generalist.

The course requires a two-year commitment once orientation is completed.  Requirements for the position must be licensed as a registered nurse in the state of California and have at least one year of recent acute care experience in the hospital.
